Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications

General Aims

This programme aims to produce graduates with:

  • A solid grounding in the basics of telecommunication systems and operations.

  • A thorough understanding of the many telecommunication technologies used not only in Kenya but all over the world

  • The preparedness of facing and shaping the future of telecommunications in Kenya and beyond.

  • Computing and programming skills relevant to the industry and beyond.

  • The skills to design new telecommunication products and systems

  • The skills to analyse, configure, man, maintain and install telecommunication systems

  • A holistic understanding of the business, political and legal frameworks that govern the telecommunication industry.

  • An insider’s view of how telecommunication companies are run and managed and how to make strategic plans in the industry

  • The ability to plan, guide and implement environmentally-friendly technological change

Admission Requirements

Minimum University Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree programmes require a minimum mean grade of C+ (C Plus) in KCSE.

  • OR
  • A minimum of Credit Pass at diploma level or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.

  • OR
  • 2 Principal Passes at ‘A’ level obtained at one sitting OR two Principal Passes obtained at different sittings provided the scores are of grade C and above

  • In addition to the minimum entrance requirements of Kabarak University – mean grade of C+ at KCSE – applicants must have a minimum grade of C+ (C plus) in Mathematics, Physics and English or equivalent qualifications.

  • Applications from mature students will be considered subject to them satisfying the University’s Conditions of Admission.
